Yes. At its August 27, 2024, meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved the transition of library services from the County of Orange to the City of Irvine. The transition of Irvine library operations from OCPL to the City of Irvine will take place July 1, 2025.
The Irvine Heritage Park and University Park Libraries closed as of May 16, 2025. The Katie Wheeler Library will close on June 30th, 2025.
Currently, Heritage Park and University Park checked out items will no longer be renewable. After May 10th, 2025, all material from Heritage Park and University Park Libraries will be due back on May 31st, 2025, due to the transition.
Material borrowed from OCPL must be returned to an OCPL library. The Heritage Park and University Park book drops will remain open through June 30, 2025, and the Katie Wheeler book drop will remain open through August 1, 2025. For a list of OCPL library locations, click here.
