Is the City of Irvine separating from the County of Orange Library system, OCPL?

Yes. At its August 27, 2024, meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved the transition of library services from the County of Orange to the City of Irvine. The transition of Irvine library operations from OCPL to the City of Irvine will take place July 1, 2025.

The Irvine Heritage Park and University Park Libraries closed as of May 16, 2025.  The Katie Wheeler Library closed on June 30th, 2025.

In order to remove borrowed material from any of our locations from your account we ask that you return material to an OCPL library or the library you borrowed it from. City Libraries cannot remove items from your OCPL library card, the item remains on your card until items are shipped back to us.
